Review of “House of Flame and Shadow”

If you’ve been around the blog for a while, you know Crescent City is my most on the fence series. I want to love it, but most of the books just hit okay for me. “House of Flame and Shadow,” however is the first book in the series that I found myself genuinely enjoying.

Obviously some of the joy was found in characters that I was familiar with and how they added to the story, but I think Bryce gets a real character upgrade. She’s less party girl and more regal- it honestly gave real Aelin/Throne of Glass vibes and I’m here for it.

Overall, this book got 4 stars from me, leaning towards a 4.5. I think this one gave me enough that I would continue on with the series, as long as the storyline keeps on the track it’s on.
